When I read today’s first reading, I ask myself the question, “how often do I grumble?” If I answer honestly I would say more often than I should. Ask yourself the same question.? Answer honestly. Listen to the people of Israel. They have escaped from virtual slavery and now they want to go back. They whine, they complain, they grumble. They have a God who provides for their daily needs and still they look for more. Yes, we can be like that. We have enough for our needs yet we want more. We are well fed but not satisfied. We pray “Give us this day our daily bread “. But do we really mean daily or Lord give us a year’s supply and more. Learning to trust God is something we have to do every day because only by trusting God can our whining and grumbling cease. He cares for our needs and the journey continues. Fr Karl
